Twitch income comes from four sources: subscriptions (2.50 net per sub after Twitch's 50% cut), bits (1¢ per bit to streamer), ads (CPM-based), and donations/tips. Subs typically drive 50-70% of revenue for partnered streamers; ads 10-20%; bits 5-15%; donations the remainder.

100 average concurrent viewers streaming 120 hours/month at 10 subs per 1000 viewers (1 sub), 100 bits/hour, 3 ad CPM, and 200 donations = about 200-300/month total. That's the reality for most mid-tier streamers. Top streamers (10k+ CCV) can earn 50-200k/month but those are rare outliers.

Partner vs Affiliate matters. Affiliates get the same ad and bit share but usually 50/50 sub split. Partners negotiate 70/30 sub splits and access to custom deals. Getting Partner requires stable 75+ CCV over 30 days - a significant but achievable goal for active streamers after 12-18 months.

A worked example

Try the defaults: avg concurrent viewers of 100, hours streamed monthly of 120, subs per 1,000 viewers of 10, bits per hour of 100. The tool returns 430.50. You can adjust any input and the result updates as you type — no submit button, no reload. That's the real power here: seeing how sensitive the output is to one or two assumptions.

What moves the number most

The result responds to Avg Concurrent Viewers, Hours Streamed Monthly, Subs per 1,000 Viewers, Bits per Hour, and Ad CPM (£). Not every input has equal weight. Flip one at a time toward extreme values to feel which ones move the needle most for your situation.

The formula behind this

Subs = (CCV/1000) × subs/1k × 2.50. Bits = bits/hour × hours × 0.01. Ads = CCV × ad minutes × CPM/1000. Total = sum + donations. Everything the calculator does is shown in the formula box below, so you can check the math against your own spreadsheet if you want.

What the score tells you

Headline financial numbers — income, savings, debt — each tell part of the story. This calculation stitches several together into a single read you can track over time. The value is in the direction, not the absolute number.

What this doesn't capture

The score is a composite of the inputs you provide. Life context — job security, family obligations, health, housing — doesn't appear in the math but shapes the real picture. Use the number as a prompt, not a verdict.

Example Scenario

100 CCV × 120h with 10 subs/1k CCV + bits + ads = $430.50.

Inputs

Avg Concurrent Viewers:100
Hours Streamed Monthly:120
Subs per 1,000 Viewers:10
Bits per Hour:100
Ad CPM (£):£3
Donations Monthly:£200
Expected Result$430.50

This example uses typical values for illustration. Adjust the inputs above to match a specific situation and see how the result changes.

Sources & Methodology

Methodology

Subs = (CCV/1000) × subs/1k × 2.50. Bits = bits/hour × hours × 0.01. Ads = CCV × ad minutes × CPM/1000. Total = sum + donations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I go from Affiliate to Partner?
Maintain 75+ average CCV over 30 days, stream 25 hours across 12 days in 30 days, reach 50+ followers. Apply when consistent. Approval takes 2-6 weeks. Benefits: better sub split (70/30 vs 50/50), priority support, custom emote tiers.
Why are my ad rates so low?
Gaming content typically has low ad CPMs (1-4). Non-gaming (IRL, music, educational) runs 3-8. Demographics matter - viewers pay most. Sponsorships via brand deals pay 3-10x more than Twitch ads but require negotiating direct.
Should I stream longer hours?
Up to about 150 hours/month, yes - more hours = more discovery = more followers. Above that, returns diminish sharply and burnout becomes real. Top performers average 100-140 hours/month consistently, not 250-hour grind months.
What about sponsorships?
Not in this calculator. Sponsorships scale with viewer count, engagement, and niche. At 1k CCV expect 200-1,000 per sponsored stream. At 10k CCV: 2k-10k. Major brand deals at 100k+ CCV can hit 50k+ per campaign.
